Test Your Website Locally on Devices Without an External Application

This post will help you to test your static or dynamic website on any device as long as those devices are in the same WI-FI connection. If you have a static web page that you’re opening directly from your hard drive to see on the browser, you will need a local web server running on your machine in order to test that website to any connected device. If you’re using Mac, I would recommend MAMP, if you’re using Windows WAMP would work for you. XAMPP  works for both Mac and Windows.

STEP 01:

Make sure your website is running on the server without any issue.

STEP 02:

Go to “System Preferences” on your Mac, then get the IP address that you can see under the “Turn Wi-FI Off” button and type that IP address – in my case “192.168.0.9” – to your browser address bar instead of “localhost“. You will be able to see the exact same screen that you saw before.

Now, you can go ahead and enter the IP address to any of your devices as long as it connects to the same WI-FI network your computer is connected to. Now, you should be able to see the website on your device!!!
